The Physics Department is proud to have been ranked (in a 2-way tie) the #5 Physics Graduate program in the country by U.S. News & World Report, only 0.1 points from a 4-way tie for the schools ranked #1. We are pleased to be have earned this ranking with limited financial resources.  We will continue to strive to build on our success and continue to provide an innovative program for our students. It is important to note that of the other auspicious universities included in the top 6 Cal is the only public institution, which include:
