Funding Priorities Print E-mail

Integrated Physical Sciences Complex (IPSC) - Berkeley's Departments of Physics and Astronomy are embarking a bold new program to effect dramatic change in the education of our students and future of research.  The new Integrated Physical Sciences Complex will build on Berkeley strengths throughout the Physical Sciences.  A model research and teaching facility, it will house faculty and students from multiple disciplines, with a foundation in the traditional fields of Physics and Astronomy.

Berkeley Center for Theoretical Physics (Berkeley CTP) - A gift to the Berkeley Center for Theoretical Physics contributes not only to the Center, but builds on our reputation for excellence by supporting three important initiatives.

Visiting Scholars Program
Three-year Postdoctoral Fellowships
Five-year Distinguished Fellowships

Designed to bring the brightest young scholars and most prominent researchers to Berkeley, these programs offer a wide range of gift opportunities to support the Center's future as a vibrant hub of scholarly exchange.

Graduate Fellowships - This is a continuing need among the Department's funding priorities.  Your gift helps ensure that physics graduate students who choose to attend Berkeley are among the very best in the world.

Undergraduate Research - Gifts to this program create a major difference in the experience of our majors.  Under the mentorship of Physics faculty, students have the opportunity to be actively engaged in research during the academic year.  This hands-on involvement fosters their spirit of inquiry, prepares them for the challenging demands of research at the graduate level, and opens doors to summer research positions for talented undergraduates.

Support the Department with The Friends of Physics Fund - Established by members of the Physics Faculty in 1996, this fund provides a wide range of support for faculty, students and ongoing Department activities including distinguished lectures, colloquia and visitor programs.  Your gift to the Friends of Physics is an investment in excellence that helps encourage the brightest and best to choose Physics at Berkeley.
