| Details: | Many situations of current interest involve very small numbers of particles or molecules – chemical reactions and physical diffusion inside biological cells or in nanotech, or in single-molecule experiments, for example. We are interested in the laws of dynamics in the small-systems limit – the distributions and fluctuations in various dynamical quantities. We are exploring both experiments and a variational approach for the theoretical modeling. |
