Applying to UC Berkeley's Physics Graduate Program

The Department of Physics has set Friday, December 14, 2012 as the deadline for accepting all 2013-2014 applications for admission to the Berkeley Physics Ph.D. program.

To meet the December 14 deadline, all applicants must take the General GRE, the GRE-Subject Test in Physics (and TOEFL, if applicable) no later than the November 2012 exam date offerings, but especially the GRE-Subject Test in Physics. The Department is aware that ETS score reports for examinations taken in November may arrive after the Dec. 14 deadline.

You must apply for graduate admission online at: http://www.grad.berkeley.edu/admissions/grad_app.shtml

Please read the application instructions thoroughly. All supporting material, including your transcript should upload to your application. Your application will be reviewed with your unofficial transcripts. If you are recommended for admission to the Physics PhD program, you must submit official copies of your transcript for final approval of your admission by Graduate Division's Graduate Admissions Office.

You must submit a course and textbook list of all third and fourth year physics (including astrophysics) and mathematics courses. Please download our Course and Textbook List Form. You may complete our form and upload it to your online application, or you may use our form as a template.

We will begin making offers of admission starting late February. Our final offers of admission will be made March 15, 2013.
