Berkeley Physics congratulates Ph.D. student Nick Sherman on being awarded the 2018 LeRoy Apker Award “For outstanding undergraduate research in theoretical condensed matter and mathematical physics dealing with the subjects of quantum entanglement in mixed states, NMR in highly frustrated magnets and anyon dispersion in perturbed Toric Code models.”

The LeRoy Apker award from APS recognizes outstanding achievements in physics by undergraduate students, and provides encouragement to young physicists who have demonstrated great potential for future scientific accomplishment.

Berkeley Physics is proud of it’s transfer students. Nick received his A.S. in Physics from Solano Community College in 2015, then received his B.S. in Physics from UC Davis in 2018. He started his Ph.D. at UC Berkeley this term.
