SWPS hosts lunch with Nobel Laureate Donna Strickland

The Society of Women in Physics was pleased to host Professor Donna Strickland for an informal talk during her visit to campus for her colloquim talk, "From Nonlinear Optics to High-Intensity Laser Physics."  Strickland received the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics along with Prof. Gérard Mourou on their "method of generating high-intensity, ultra-short optical pulses."  She is the first woman in 55 years to win the prize.  Strickland is a Professor at the University of Waterloo who is known for her research on light-matter interactions and pulsed lasers.
