A team of eleven investigators at LBNL led by Assistant Professor Alp Sipahigil have been awarded $8,000,000 by DOE to develop ultrahigh frequency phononics for next generation superconducting...

Joseph Orenstein

Professor

Joseph Orenstein received both B.S. and Ph.D degrees in Physics from MIT. He then joined Bell Labs as a Member of the Technical Staff in 1981 and later as Distinguished MTS. After ten years at Bell Labs he joined the faculty at UC Berkeley and the staff at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, where he is currently Distinguished Professor of Physics and Senior Staff Scientist, respectively. The achievements of his lab were recognized by the Isakson Award for Optics from the American Physical Society. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and a Member of the National Academy of Sciences...

Peter Yu

Professor Emeritus

Peter Yu received his B.Sc from the Univ. of Hong Kong in 1967 and the Ph.D. in Physics from Brown in 1972. After doing postdoctoral work at Berkeley between 1971-73, he joined the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center as a research staff member. He returned to Berkeley as a faculty member in 1979. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society and has been a Guggenheim Fellow and Miller Professor.
