I will discuss science at the Advanced Light Source x-ray synchrotron at Berkeley, and the capabilities and projects at proposed new x-ray source facilities at LBNL and SLAC, including free-electron x-ray lasers. Examples will include experiments in biology, physics, chemistry and applied sciences, and new light source technologies.
