| Details: | Many integrals in supersymmetric gauge and string theories may be transformed into a purely combinatorial problem of counting configurations of boxes with certain weights, of the kind very familiar in statistical physics. This technique, known as equivariant localization, has many computational as well as conceptual advantages. In my talk, I will review its basics and will try to give a taste of some problems of current interest.
