Course web pages are created and maintained by the faculty and/or graduate student instructors who teach the course. Here are some current options for creating and hosting course web pages.

bSpace: Instructors may set up their course web page at: https://bspace.berkeley.edu/. Please note that use of bspace requires a valid CalNet ID. Only faculty and lecturers have full access to this system. Faculty/lecturers may delegate access to their GSIs. Please visit the web site for more information or contact:

CourseWeb learning management system. The campus sets up a default web page for each course on CourseWeb. There the instructor can post office hours, contact info, a syllabus, and a link to another class web page. CourseWeb allows the instructor to view an up-to-date class roll and to send e-mails to all students enrolled, but does not provide a way to post pdf files, problem sets, announcements, class bulletin boards, etc. If you do choose another option, it's still worthwhile to link it to your CourseWeb page, since this default page is easier for students to find on-line. Other Learning Management Systems (LMS). Other commercial LMS allow an instructor to create web pages, post files, manage on-line gradebooks, administer quizzes, and set up threaded discussions and chat groups without special programming skills. Post a free-form web site. Some instructors prefer to create their own free-form course web pages, which can be published on any accessible server. An instructor with a Socrates account (http://socrates.berkeley.edu/) can create a public access directory for a web site (see http://socrates.berkeley.edu/Help/WWW/).
