Post Doc

Emlen Metz

Emlen grew up in Berkeley, attending Berkeley High, and was thrilled to return to Berkeley for this postdoc after doing her BA and PhD on the other side of the country in Pennsylvania (at Swarthmore College and the University of Pennsylvania, respectively). She is that strange thing, a psychologist in a physics department. She works with Nobel Laureate Saul Perlmutter conducting educational research and developing curriculum on ideas from science that are especially powerful for decision-making. They aim to make these ideas accessible to both undergraduates and high school students,...

James Mulligan

I am a postdoctoral researcher in high-energy nuclear physics. I am interested in basic research to better understand nature, such as how complex phenomena arise from fundamental laws. I spend the bulk of my days analyzing data from the ALICE experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, in which 2000 of my friends and I try to understand the strong nuclear force, which is responsible for binding most ordinary matter – and about which remarkably little is known. I also work in the JETSCAPE collaboration, which is a joint theory-experiment effort to extract physics insight from global...

Vadim Munirov

I'm a postdoctoral scholar working in Jonathan Wurtele's research group. I received my Ph.D. in Astrophysical Sciences (Plasma physics program) from Princeton University in summer 2020. I hold B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in Russia.
