How to Reserve Conference Rooms:

All Physics Department rooms are for Physics Department use only. The following individuals are eligible to book Physics conference rooms:

  • Physics Department Senate Faculty or Professional Employees (Faculty, Staff, Research Units): All faculty, staff, and research unit representatives can reserve rooms for academic, administrative or research meeting purposes.
  • Physics Students: Physics declared undergraduate majors and registered graduate students enrolled in our PhD program. Registered student organizations should reserve space through Student Affairs if they are not affiliated with the department.

Once an eligible individual has determined that a room appears to be free for the time and day they are seeking, they can reserve Physics South-CR-324, Birge-CR-328 and Birge-CR-468 by simply adding the name of the room as a guest of the event.

The Room Use Request Form  is required only for after-hours use in Physics South 324 (capacity 12), Birge 328 (capacity 16), and Birge 468 (capacity 20) and is required for all requests for Physics North 375. The requestor will be notified once the request is reviewed and approved. On the room use request form please designate a host who will be present for the entire event. After-hours events requested by students that involve use of the barbecue or include alcohol require a staff or faculty sponsor in attendance and an approved open flame or alcohol permit on file.

All requests must adhere to the following room use policies linked hereThe department may prioritize events based on departmental needs, academic importance, or alignment with department goals. Reservations are contingent on Campus and/or State guidelines at the time of the event. Food and beverages are allowed in these spaces, but must be disposed of in appropriate bins after the scheduled meeting. Alternatively, with adequate notice, event custodial services can be obtained for a fee.

If the event is not department-sanctioned, and the hosting group is a registered student organization, the students should reserve space through Student Affairs

Space inquiries should be sent to physics_admin@berkeley.edu
