Emlen Metz

Bio/CV:

Emlen grew up in Berkeley, attending Berkeley High, and was thrilled to return to Berkeley for this postdoc after doing her BA and PhD on the other side of the country in Pennsylvania (at Swarthmore College and the University of Pennsylvania, respectively). She is that strange thing, a psychologist in a physics department. She works with Nobel Laureate Saul Perlmutter conducting educational research and developing curriculum on ideas from science that are especially powerful for decision-making. They aim to make these ideas accessible to both undergraduates and high school students, in hopes of scaffolding more reasoned discourse at the intersection of science and society.
