Roia Ferrazares

Director of Administration

Roia Ferrazares joined the Department as Director of Administration in March of 2020. Before joining Physics Roia served as Assistant Dean of the School of Journalism from January 2013 to February 2020.

At UC Berkeley, Roia has also held the position of Manager for the Dean's Office of the College of Letters and Science for four years and Manager for the Department of Music for two years. Before joining UC Berkeley in 2006, she spent 5 years working at Mills College in Oakland where she coordinated the Public Policy Program and handled recruitment for the School of Business.

Sheela Jhaveri, MA

Financial Analyst

Ms. Jhaveri joins the Physics Department as a Financial Analyst 3. Prior to Physics she was a Research Administrator 3 for 6 years at California Social Work Education Center at Berkeley Social Welfare. She oversaw post-award administration of some of CalSWEC's contracts. A UC Berkeley veteran of many years, she has also worked at various nonprofits in the Bay Area.

Marjani Jones

Graduate Advisor

Marjani has over ten years of experience in higher education. She has previously worked at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), where she worked as an academic advisor for the occupational therapy department. At UIC, she was a primary resource for prospective and enrolled students. And additionally helped with clinical placements for the department and was chair of the Applied Health Sciences staff council committee. In her free time, she loves reading, traveling, and spending time with her five nieces and nephews.

Brett Laugtug

Academic HR Analyst

Brett Laugtug joined the Physics Department as an Academic HR Analyst in May 2020. He was previously employed at Berkeley Regional Services, where he worked in Human Resources for six years. In addition, he has over a decade of experience in the field of US Immigration Law and Immigration Compliance.

Brett has a Bachelor's degree from UC Davis, and has completed graduate coursework in creative writing at Boston University.
