How to get here
You can fly to San Francisco (SFO) or Oakland (OAK) International Airports. SFO is a major hub of United; but flights are often cheaper to Oakland. From Chicago, ATA is often the cheapest, flying to OAK. From Boston and New York, try jetBlue. From Seattle, try Alaska Airlines. From southern California, Denver, and Chicago, try Southwest Airlines.

From San Francisco International Airport, the easiest way to get to UC Berkeley is to use a door-to-door-shuttle.

Another way is to use BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit, a local train system). Take BART for Balboa Park, and transfer to another one for Richmond, get off at Downtown Berkeley station (not North Berkeley). The fare is $5.50. It takes about an hour. See also public transportation to UC Berkeley. You can walk from BART station to UC Berkeley campus (see Map of the campus; BART station is in C1), or can use campus shuttle.

From Oakland International Airport, you get on the bus "AirBart" ($2) to the Coliseum/Oakland Airport BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit, a local train system) station. Then take BART for Richmond, and get off at Downtown Berkeley station (not North Berkeley). The fare is $1.90. The rest is the same as above.

Driving is not recommended in Berkeley because parking and traffic can be a nightmare. Public transportation is recommended.
