James Siegrist

Professor Emeritus

Professor Siegrist received his Ph.D. from Stanford in 1979. He joined the UCB Faculty in 1988. He has served as the Director of the Physics Division at LBNL since 1996.

Research Interests

Professor Siegrist has worked since the late 1980's on the physics of electroweak symmetry breaking. Current work centers on the ATLAS experiment at CERN. Recent physics interests include the Dark Matter searches using the ATLAS experiment, and applications of instrumentation to problems in nuclear energy, especially non-proliferation.

Alp Sipahigil is the Ping & Amy Chao Family Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley. He has joint appointments as a Faculty Scientist at the Materials Sciences Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and a supporting appointment at UC Berkeley Physics.

Aziza Suleymanzade

Robert J. Birgeneau Professorship in Physics

Aziza Suleymanzade is an Assistant Professor, holding the endowed Robert J. Birgeneau Professorship in Physics. Her group explores hybrid quantum systems that combine Rydberg atoms, superconducting circuits, and nanophotonics. Her research focuses on creating novel quantum interfaces and generating entanglement resources that link these platforms for quantum information processing, communication, and sensing.

Feng Wang

Professor

Feng Wang received a B.A. from Fudan University, Shanghai, in 1999 and a Ph.D. from Columbia University in 2004. From 2005-2007, he has been a Miller Fellow with Miller Institute for Basic Science at Berkeley. He joined the physics faculty in fall, 2007.

Haichen Wang

Associate Professor

Haichen Wang received a B.S. in physics from Peking University in 2007, and a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2013. His Ph.D. thesis was about the discovery of the Higgs boson using data collected by the ATLAS experiment at CERN's Large Hadron Collider. Martin White

Professor

Martin White received his B.S. in 1988 from the University of Adelaide and his Ph.D. in 1992 from Yale. After postdoctoral positions at the CfPA in Berkeley and an Enrico Fermi Fellowship in Chicago he became Assistant Professor of Physics and of Astronomy at UIUC. Professor and Director Lawrence Berkeley National Lab

Michael Witherell is Director of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Professor of Physics. Previously he was Vice Chancellor for Research and held the Presidential Chair in Physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and before that he was Director of Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab).
