Our mission is to discover and engineer quantum phenomena and biological processes through the development and application of advanced scientific tools and artificial intelligence.

Our Process

We incorporate physical interactions and fields, topology, symmetry breaking, and dimensionality into our approaches and experiments to study materials at their natural time and length scales.
We use ultrafast light and pulsed current to understand, switch and control materials properties.
We design cutting edge instrumentation to study materials at their natural time and length scale.
We utilize AI algorithms to make real time decisions while performing experiments and for quick feedback during data collection and advanced data analysis.

Our Group

Our group is led by University of California, Berkeley Physics Professor Alessandra Lanzara.
On campus, we are affiliated with the department of Physics, the department of Applied Science and Technology, the Center for Sustainable Materials and Innovation, the Bakar Institute for Digital Materials for the Planet, and the Kavli Energy Nanoscience Institute at the University of California Berkeley.
At the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory we are affiliated with the Materials Science Division.  We work very closely with the scientific staff at the Advanced Light Source and the Molecular Foundry.
