Matt Pyle received B.S. in Physics (2001) and B.E. in Aerospace Engineering (2002) from the University of Notre Dame, and a Ph.D. in Physics from Stanford University (2012). Subsequently, he crossed the bay and was a postdoctoral researcher at Berkeley. He joined the Berkeley Physics faculty as the Garland Assistant Professor in 2015.

Gabriel attended the University of Cambridge in the UK from 2000 to 2004, where she received her BA and MSci in Natural Sciences. She went on to the University of Oxford, and was awarded her DPhil in Particle and Nuclear Physics in 2008. Her post-doctoral research was performed at the University of Pennsylvania, in Professor Klein's research group, working on SNO and its successor, the SNO+ experiment. Gabriel joined the U.C. Berkeley faculty in 2012.

After an international search, Barbara Jacak of the State University New York, Stony Brook, has been named as Berkeley Lab’s new director of the Nuclear Science Division. Jacak has also accepted a joint appointment as Faculty Senior Scientist at Berkeley Lab and Professor of Physics at UC Berkeley.

Yury G. Kolomensky joined the Physics Department faculty in July 2000. He received a B.S. in Physics at St. Petersburg Technical University and M.S. in Physics at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1997, where his work on the spin structure of the nucleon was awarded the 1998 Outstanding Thesis in Nuclear Physics Award from the American Physics Society. He was a Robert A. Millikan Postdoctoral Scholar in Physics at CalTech from 1997 to 2000.
